rench cellist and composer Cécile Lacharme will perform at the COMEDIA Theater in Cologne on 16 July 2026, presenting her original composition for the restored German silent film HANSEATEN. Created in collaboration with the Deutsche Kinemathek, the performance will be recorded live and synchronised with the restored film, bringing a century-old work back to life through a contemporary musical voice.
Cécile Lacharme is an artist whose work consistently moves at the intersection of instrumental music and cinematic language. With her cello and a pedalboard, she creates immersive, multi-layered soundscapes in real time through layered loops and textures, using 360-degree sound distribution to draw the audience into an experience that comes close to cinema itself. She has toured and performed across Europe, Asia, and beyond. Her compositional practice is deeply rooted in the audiovisual world: she composed the score for the documentary À Notre Santé (Couac Productions, 2023) and the original music for the Arte Radio podcast Presque Mère (2024).
